The Role:The Payroll Analyst role focuses on improving payroll compliance, building and maintaining clear process documentation, and strengthening overall controls. It involves mapping end-to-end payroll processes, enhancing compliance frameworks, and ensuring all operations align with legislative, audit, and internal policy requirements.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive set of payroll processes, procedures, and controls from start to finish.
- Ensure payroll activities remain compliant with legislation, awards/EBAs, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, STP, and internal policies.
- Develop control checklists, reconciliation trackers, audit logs, and validation processes, leveraging strong Excel capability.
- Review existing processes to identify gaps or weaknesses in controls and lead improvement initiatives.
- Use end-to-end payroll expertise to assess processes, risks, and control effectiveness.
- Act as a go-to resource for payroll queries, including calculations, compliance, and system-related requirements.
- Step in to support payroll processing when needed to ensure accuracy and team continuity.
- Provide additional BAU support as required.
- Assist with internal and external audits by supplying accurate documentation, reconciliations, and control evidence
