Job Description

The Company:
Our client is a large, established Australian organisation with a significant workforce across multiple locations. They have a strong focus on people, compliance and operational excellence and are looking for an experienced payroll professional to join their HR team.

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established business in a role that offers exposure to a high-volume payroll environment, key stakeholders and a broad range of payroll responsibilities.

The Role:
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for supporting the payroll function and acting as the key link between the business and its outsourced payroll provider.

You will play an important role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while ensuring compliance with relevant awards, Enterprise Agreements and Australian payroll legislation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate payroll processing for approximately 720 employees across Australia
  • Facilitate monthly and weekly payroll runs, including reconciliations and payroll corrections
  • Work closely with the outsourced payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Review payroll files and complete final verification prior to Finance approval
  • Ensure payroll complies with relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries and resolve issues within agreed timeframes
  • Interpret and respond to payroll, ATO and statutory legislation queries
  • Review and approve employee master data changes including salaries, positions, tax, banking and personal details
  • Review termination calculations and payroll records
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • 3+ years' experience in payroll, with strong exposure to end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience working with high-volume payrolls, ideally within a larger organisation
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Strong understanding of payroll reconciliations, payroll adjustments and termination payments
