Job Description

The Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturing organisation with a strong presence in the Australian market. As part of an upcoming payroll transition, they are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to support the current payroll function and assist with knowledge transfer to the Sydney-based team.

The Role Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this 3-month fixed term contract will be responsible for processing payroll during the transition period while capturing key payroll knowledge, processes, and requirements to support the successful handover to the Sydney team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • End-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 350 employees across two entities
  • Managing fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles
  • Ensuring payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with legislation and company policies
  • Documenting payroll processes, procedures, and key system requirements
  • Acting as a key source of payroll knowledge during the transition period
  • Supporting the Sydney payroll team through training, guidance, and knowledge sharing
  • Assisting with payroll queries from employees and internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and payroll requirements
The Candidate
  • Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience
  • Experience managing payroll for a mid-sized workforce (300+ employees preferred)
  • Exposure to multiple payroll cycles, including fortnightly and monthly payrolls
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and support others
  • A proactive approach and willingness to document and share knowledge
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment advantageous
  • Experience interpreting awards, particularly Clerks Award exposure, highly desirable
  • Micropay experience preferred, with exposure to other payroll systems also considered
