Job Description

The company: A large-scale services provider with circa 4,500 employees has recently embarked on a payroll transformation project, which includes implementing a brand-new payroll system. The transformation has created multiple, smaller-scale payroll projects, which are currently being recruited.

The role: Reporting to the Payroll Manager, as Payroll Projects Specialist, you will work on several payroll-related projects, with an ongoing NSW Long Service Leave reconciliation project taking up the majority of your time. This project is an essential part of the transformation and is working toward a strict timeframe.

Key duties include:
  • Finalise and validate Long Service Leave (LSL) records.
  • Correct employee LSL balances and process back payments.
  • Support payroll remediation activities as directed by regulators (Fair Work, NSW IR Inspectorate).
  • Prepare reports, data, and recommendations on payroll and LSL issues.
  • Assist with payroll system and process improvement projects.
  • Apply project and change management processes in payroll-related projects.
  • Contribute to HR and payroll initiatives for consistent service delivery.
  • Prepare project updates, briefings, and business cases.
  • Other related payroll projects as required.
The candidate: We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in NSW LSL calculations, in particular. Other skills required include:
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Excel (pivots/ lookups)
  • Confident with manual payroll calculations and resolving discrepancies.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Workspace skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and problem-solving.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of WHS and equity principles.
  • Previous experience working remotely is also required.
The role: This 12-month fixed-term contract pays $110,000 + Super plus not-for-profit tax benefits (saving you thousands in tax!). Remote-based applicants WITHIN AUSTRALIA are welcome to apply - unfortunately, we cannot hire candidates based overseas outside Australia.

To apply, please forward your CV to Marcus Stubbs at Appreciating Payroll Recruitment today. I look forward to hearing from you.
