About the Role A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Accounts Officer to join their finance team on a 4-month contract basis. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in building robust, best-practice finance processes from the ground up.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll coordination, and the setup and optimisation of the organisation's MYOB AccountRight system. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful operational impact in a short timeframe.
Key Responsibilities MYOB Systems & Process Setup - Configure and optimise MYOB AccountRight to support accurate, efficient finance operations
- Establish and document best-practice AP and AR workflows and controls within MYOB
- Drive process improvement and data integrity across transactional finance functions
Accounts Payable - Manage end-to-end AP including supplier invoice processing, payment runs, remittances, and aged payables reconciliation
- Maintain accurate supplier master data and ensure correct coding and approval workflows
Accounts Receivable - Issue customer invoices, allocate incoming payments, and reconcile customer accounts
- Monitor aged receivables and support timely debt collection follow-up
Banking & Reconciliations - Perform weekly bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Maintain accurate cash and banking records
Month-End & Year-End Support - Complete reconciliations to support month-end close processes
- Prepare audit-ready reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Payroll Coordination - Provide payroll inputs to outsourced payroll and salary packaging providers and review outputs for accuracy
- Upload payroll payment files and ensure compliance with superannuation, PAYG, and Portable Long Service Leave obligations
- Assist in maintaining the Employment Hero HR/Payroll system
General Finance Support - Provide ad hoc finance support as directed by the Head of Finance
Skills & Experience - Minimum 4 years' experience across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and payroll
- Strong, hands-on experience with MYOB AccountRight — essential
- Demonstrated experience setting up or significantly improving finance systems and processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
- Solid understanding of end-to-end transactional finance operations
- Familiarity with Employment Hero advantageous
